Managing director of the election services provider electionz.com. Steve Kilpatrick saying text voting in the next election has considerable potential. Replying to a Telecom survey saying the majority of people would vote by text messages if given the option. Is a dangerous step for true democracy for our electoral voting system. Considering text and electronic voting is not security save guaranteed, and can be tampered with. Ask any web designer that has developed a voting system that requires test or electronic voting for results. And they well be the first to tell you that no matter how save the system, someone will find away to manipulated it or hack into it, resulting in the system producing false results. In a free democracy and not a dictatorship, it is still best to vote physically at the ballot box. It is up to the government of the day and its opposition parties to give the people a good reason to do so, with their promises of tax cuts etc.
